Neil Laidlaw Productions is a commercial Producer and General Manager working across both new work and revivals in the West End and Broadway as well as UK and international touring.
NLP was the Producer and General Manager of the hit West End musical The Prince of Egypt, based on the award-winning 1998 DreamWorks Animation film.
In 2019, NLP presented the world premiere production of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, based on the best-selling novel by Louis de Bernières, a co-production with Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Rose Theatre Kingston. The show toured the UK in Spring 2019 and ran at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London in Summer 2019.
NLP also brought Tony Roper’s much-loved The Steamie back to the stage for Hogmanay 2019 at the SSE Hydro, Glasgow.
NLP recently co-produced the hotly anticipated revival of Eugene O’Neil’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night starring Jeremy Irons and Lesley Manville which ran at Wyndham’s Theatre in Spring 2018. They also co-produced the new West End musical The Grinning Man, with Bristol Old Vic, which ran at Trafalgar Studios until April 2018.
In 2017, NLP Produced the 30th Anniversary Tour of The Steamie and also acted as Co-Producer on the West End transfer of Annie, as well as the National Theatre production of Oslo.
NLP also specialises in theatre production finance and offers a bespoke Production Accounting service for a range of productions, currently including Bat Out of Hell at the Dominion Theatre and The Wider Earth at the Natural History Museum. Other recent productions have included and Alice’s Adventures Underground at the Vaults, Show Boat at the New London Theatre, Scooby Doo: Live! at the London Palladium and the 20th Anniversary UK Tour of Rent. NLP was one of the co-producers of the 2016 West End transfer of Daniel Evans’ production of Show Boat, which originated at the Sheffield Crucible. In 2015, the company was also co-producer of Gypsy starring Imelda Staunton which transferred from Chichester Festival Theatre to the Savoy Theatre, London and won four 2016 Olivier awards; for Best Actress (Imelda Staunton), Best Supporting Actress (Lara Pulver), Best Lighting Design (Mark Henderson) and Best Musical Revival. Other recent co-productions include the Young Vic’s A Doll’s House starring Hattie Morahan, at the Duke of York’s in the West End and BAM in New York – as well as the UK tour of Annie starring Craig Revel Horwood, Jodie Prenger and Lesley Joseph. The company also acted as General Manager for Catherine Schreiber Productions on the UK premiere of the Kander and Ebb musical The Scottsboro Boys at the Young Vic in Autumn 2013.
Other producing credits include Canned Laughter (Scottish Tour); The Steamie by Tony Roper (21st and 25th Anniversary Tours); Jigsy (UK Tour); Side by Side by Sondheim (Leicester Square Theatre, London); Beautiful Thing (Sound Theatre, Leicester Square, London – Evening Standard Best Newcomer award for Andrew Garfield); Hormonal Housewives (Scottish Tour); The Musical of Musicals – The Musical! (Sound Theatre, London and Kings Head Theatre, London) and Notes from Underground (Trafalgar Studios, London).
Among our Production Accounting and Theatre Finance clients, NLP also works regularly with Playful Productions on productions that have included Million Dollar Quartet, Onassis and Flare Path, all in the West End. Other Production Accounting credits include projects for MPSI Ltd (Pig Farm, McQueen and Exposure) Emma Brunjes Productions (Alice’s Adventures Underground) and Paul Taylor Mills Ltd (End of the Rainbow). Neil has also worked for the National Theatre, The Old Vic, Sadlers Wells, Hampstead Theatre, Glynis Henderson Productions and Wicked in New York.
